Resilience and going forward

I found the above on a blog post somewhere while busying myself doing nothing.  You know when you’re just following a rabbit hole, clicking whatever strikes your fancy, and something just sticks.  Strikes a chord, whatever you’d like to call it.

The above little image was on a blog for people suffering from depression, about a thousand subscribers.  The blog has gotten to the point no one posts, so there’s a catchy little slogan posted everyday from the Moderators.

“You are loved.”

“You are strong”

Blahblahblah

But every once in a while something catches your interest.  I found the definition of “resilience” and although I knew the word, and probably used it, I never really thought of what it meant.

At first, and probably for the last six months I took it at face value.  Today I re-read it in earnest, thinking yeah, I gotta be resilient the way I keep getting knocked down and getting back up.

But then the phrase “maintain their core purpose and integrity” took on a whole new meaning.  Isn’t it necessary to know what the heck your “core purpose” is before you can apply this?  Hmmmm.  A small dilemma then.

My core purpose?  I’m stuck with that one.  How can I phrase my core purpose, or grasp it even?  Right now I can’t clearly state what it is.  It must change as you change, and growing older is a matter of constant change.

Maybe not finding one’s core purpose is difficult for all of us, do you think?  Does the statement “my core purpose is to try to exist in harmony with the rest of existence” suffice as a core purpose?  Or how about simply “balance”?   A constantly changing goal in reaction to circumstances beyond my control.

Balance, that’s my core purpose.  I like that one.

This past winter was a challenge, a major challenge.  My body continues to abandon me, and is deteriorating at an ever increasing rate.  As my quality of life slides downward, I’m trying my best to balance.  Balance everything.

Keep moving forward.  At least that’s what I’m doing.
